It all started when...

I began to study the "internal" kung fu arts of Hsing-I, Taiji, and Bagua at the age of 16.  Classes were rugged and injuries were common as we sparred, practiced throwing, joint locking and striking.  My teacher used acupuncture and herbal linaments to hasten our healing.  Under his tutelage I began to learn the basics of acupuncture and herbs.  Later I worked for one of his students named Russ, fixing up rental properties.  Russ had spent 10 years in Japan and learned Shiatsu, a method of massage.  People frequently showed up at the rental properties we were working on to have him perform shiatsu.   I observed Russ for a while and due to the high volume of people showing up to be worked on he had me start working on some of the people.  Later I studied with a Native American healer named Carol Brown.  She allowed me to participate in ceremonies and taught much about healing touch and prayer.  At the age of approximately 25 I began an in depth study of Chinese Herbalism at the Rocky Mountain Herbal Institute with Roger Wicke, Ph.D.  I learned the traditional way in which I tasted and wrote notes on the effects of over 200 herbs.  Only later did I begin to work with formulas and learning how to tailor them for each individual person.  This experience has given me a depth of knowledge regarding herbs not accessible through books alone.   For the last 10-15 years I have been on the board of directors at the Rocky Mountain Herbal Institute and feel the school is on the forefront of herbal education in the world due to it designing AI (artificial intelligence) teaching systems.  After developing a thorough foundation in herbs I entered the Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder Colorado and studied many different methods of acupuncture and moxibustion with world class teachers.

Upon graduating from the Southwest Acupuncture College I worked in private practice in Denver Colorado.  I then moved to San Clemente California where I worked in a multidisciplinary medical office alongside a chiropractor and many medical doctors.  During that time I gave lectures concretely explaining how acupuncture works to local doctors specializing in pain syndromes.  I now reside in Brooklyn and bring my experience to aid my clients in achieving and maintaining optimum health.
