Meditation has been erroneously advertised as a method to bring one peace, happiness and a quiet mind. People who have been sold this bill of goods often quit when their "mind doesn't quiet down." Meditation will not quiet one's mind down in the beginning and it is not supposed to. When the body moves the mind stills. When the body stills, the mind moves. So when a person stops moving their body for a period of time the mind will become very active. This activity will dredge up a myriad of things buried in the subconscious...and that can be very rough. You cannot sneak past your darkness with meditation. You can only go through it. If you don't want to dredge up the darkness, avoid meditation.
